Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Visiting from New York. This place came recommended and the experience was great. Food was delicious. The place was packed for lunch and we were accommodated quickly. Didn’t wait long for food. Amazing service. Would recommend!!"
"An unforgettable feast at Big Black Cook! We stumbled upon Big Black Cook and left completely blown away. The jerk chicken was perfectly spiced with a smoky heat that lingered just right — bold, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone tender. The sweet chicken offered a beautiful contrast, sticky and rich with a caramelized glaze that made every bite addictive. And the wings? Crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection — we couldn’t stop eating them. The plantains were golden and sweet, the ideal sidekick to balance out the spices. You can taste the care and soul in every dish. This is comfort food at its finest — bold, vibrant, and deeply satisfying. Can’t wait to come back!"
"Service was great. Food was AMAZING, it had an abundance of flavor. We ordered the BBC cocktail, ropa vieja, fried plantains and red beans. It is a little pricey, but so worth it."
"Small restaurant serving Caribbean food and drinks. The service was super fast, we got our food in 5 minutes. We were there on a Sunday night and it was packed. The food was really tasty."
"Good food with plenty of flavor! I got the "super bowl" with jerk chicken and prawn accras, which could've had a bit more meat in them. I appreciate the healthy dish options and large portions."
"I am a New Yorker of Caribbean descent who recently moved to France, to find this place was pure happiness. I had the Ropa Vieja and it tasted just as it should. Great flavors and the portion was filling enough. The shop was decorated well and the hostess/waitress was attentive to my needs. I also tried a ginger beer and it tasted good as well. Will be returning soon hopefully!"
"This isn’t authentic Jamaican food, but more of a fusion Caribbean style. It was good though – the plantains were sweet and the chicken was juicy. There’s usually a queue, but it’s not that long. (Halal)"
"Pretty good food! Sweet chicken was great, BBC juice was nice but a bit expensive. The sweet plantains were the best I've ever had. These are a must try item."
